Online Safety Page

At Ridgewood High School e-safety is important to us all. Students cover topics in KS3 Computing as well as PSCHE lessons in all year groups and via their form tutor during registration periods at regular intervals during the academic year. There is a whole school focus on e-safety during the annual Safer Internet Day; this year's theme was ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’. Students were presented with an assembly from several teachers who are based in a wide variety of faculties within school.

Young people grow up in a technology rich world. With new opportunities, come some risks. It is important that we make children aware of the risks and encourage them to adopt appropriate patterns of behaviour when using ICT. With this in mind, our students read and sign an online acceptable use agreement every 30 days.

CEOP

Check out these CEOP videos which give tips on cyber security and sharing images.

CEOP is a law enforcement agency and is there to keep children and young people safe from sexual exploitation and abuse. They are there to help and give you advice, and you can make a report directly to them if something has happened online which has made you feel unsafe, scared or worried. This might be from someone you know in real life, or someone you have only ever met online. They take all reports seriously and will do everything they can to keep you safe.

UK Safer Internet Centre

The UK Safer Internet Centre is a partnership of three leading organisations with one mission – to make the internet a great and safe place for children and young people. It has three main functions:-

An Awareness Centre - to provide advice and support to children and young people, parents and carers, schools and the children’s workforce. The Centre also coordinates Safer Internet Day across UK.

A Helpline - to provide support to professionals working with children and young people with online safety issues.

A Hotline - an anonymous and safe place to report and remove child abuse imagery and videos, wherever they are found in the world

Here at Ridgewood we take part in Safer Internet Day every year. Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Safer Internet Day is now celebrated in approximately 200 countries and territories worldwide.
